The Modèle Vagabond is my tribute to the great Gypsy Jazz tradition, crafted with modern refinement and a deep respect for the lineage of Selmer-style instruments. This Grande Bouche version brings warmth, openness, and projection—ideal for rhythm work, melodic lead playing, and players who prefer the fuller, rounder voice of the D-hole design.
At its heart is a torrefied Sitka spruce top, aged for stability and responsiveness. Torrefaction brings a mature, played-in character, giving the guitar instant liveliness and a fast, articulate attack. Paired with Pau Ferro (Santos Rosewood) back and sides, the instrument delivers clarity, harmonic richness, and a focused low end while keeping the classic Gypsy Jazz timbre intact.
The soundhole is framed by my custom Hélio radial rosette, an in-house design that breaks from traditional Gypsy patterns while remaining fully rooted in lutherie craft. The body is finished in a Tobacco Burst antique lacquer, adding depth and warmth to the guitar’s visual presence.
A 670 mm scale length and real 'pliage' lend to the instrument's punch, projection, and a quick, authoritative attack—an essential element for players who want power and immediacy under the right hand.
The neck is carved from African mahogany and topped with a polished ebony fingerboard. At the headstock, ebony, African mahogany, and polished bell brass come together in a clean, understated arrangement. It carries my Heritage Gold script—a mark I reserve for instruments where the wood, design, and intention all align with earlier, historically inspired builds.
Hardware is purposefully minimal and traditional:
• Schaller open-gear tuners for smooth, reliable performance
• DR Dell Arte polished brass tailpiece, resonant and classic
• Ebonized rosewood bridge
• Savarez Argentine 11-46 strings for authentic Gypsy Jazz snap and clarity
Each Modèle Vagabond ships in a standard hardshell case for safe transport and long-term protection.
Hand-voiced, elegantly detailed, and built for players who want tradition without limitation, the Modèle Vagabond offers a mature, expressive voice with modern precision.
