MODÈLE VAGABOND
EMBODIED ELEGANCE
The Vagabond 'Grande Bouche' D-Hole Gypsy Jazz Guitar is a Whitney Guitars original. A hybrid of the classic Selmer-Maccaferri 'Grande Bouche', this guitar features a 14-fret connection with a longer 670 mm scale length.
A VERSATILE SWING GUITAR
Staying true to form with traditional build techniques, our Modèle Vagabond, Grande Bouche Gypsy Jazz Guitar features 3-ply veneered back and sides for improved tonality and overall strength. The soundboard features a real ‘pliage’ or fold just behind the bridge. Coupled to a longer scale length, our reimagining of Selmer's classic design producing more punch, volume and quicker attack.
MODÈLE VAGABOND
My rendition of the Selmer Maccaferri ‘Grande Bouche’ Gypsy Jazz Guitar is embodied in the Modèle Vagabond.
You have the option to choose between two versions of this guitar: a 670mm long scale version with a 14-fret-to-body connection, or a 640mm short scale version with a 12-fret-to-body connection.
To ensure optimal support for the soundboard under increased string tension, the long scale version utilizes 5 braces. This design choice not only delivers the characteristic “punchy treble” found in oval sound hole guitars, but also achieves a well-balanced mid- and deep low- range. The sound projection is further enhanced by the inclusion of a large D-shaped sound hole.
Both rhythm and lead players can attest to the impressive versatility of The Modèle Vagabond guitar, as it is capable of accommodating both playing styles with ease.
