Fret-work, setup and new ‘Compton’ aluminum br Fret-work, setup and new ‘Compton’ aluminum bridge on this Gretsch 6120.

The owner wasn’t playing her anymore because the stock string spacing felt too tight and the high ‘E’ string kept popping off the stock bridge.

A much improved bridge and a custom string spacing of 2-1/16” opened things up and will get this beauty back on stage. #builtforspeed

From finish to start. Here are some progress shots From finish to start. Here are some progress shots on the Bellido classical repair.

The tuner holes had been elongated so much that the down pressure from string tension on the tuners rendered them nearly unusable.

I started with a hand spun mahogany dowel glued into place and then filled the remaining ‘half moon’ with epoxy and mahogany dust. From there it was simply clean-up, re-drilling, a final French polish on the head plate, re-fitting the tuners and a re-string.

This customer also wanted the abalone inlay removed so that was removed and filled with epoxy and ebony dust.
When you need an 11mm mahogany dowel and you can’t buy one. This was made to fill some elongated tuner holes on a ‘Bellido’ classical. More shots of that repair to come… stay tuned.
